Outreach
We help counsumers and industries understand ad regulation through training and discussions.
Between May to June 2018, the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) received seven complaints* from consumers against Wowmall, an online business (operating overseas), regarding the purchase of a watch that was drastically different from what was advertised online. Separately, the Advertising Standards Authority of Singapore (ASAS) received four feedback on the same matter.
The ASAS will implement enhanced guidelines to regulate advertisements on investments, including investments in overseas properties, and investment services. The enhanced guidelines aim to minimise the scope for advertisers of investments and investment services to make claims that are speculative, misleading or which cannot be substantiated.
The ASAS has updated the media advisory of 20 Oct 2008, following observations and feedback from travel agencies and changes in the industry.
